Unveiling Event: Rock, Paper, Scissors, June 17th

Join us at 1:15pm in downtown Turners Falls.
Join Turners Falls RiverCulture in celebrating the newest and most prominent public art in downtown Turners Falls, Saturday, June 17th.

Tim de Christopher is an internationally recognized artist and ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS is a much anticipated addition to downtown Turners Falls. The sculpture was selected last Spring from about 30 impressive proposals from throughout the country.

The sculpture is located at the seating area on the corners of Avenue A and Third Street. The afternoon’s activities will be set up on Third Street from the sculpture site to Canal Street. Throughout downtown shops and restaurants will be offering rock-paper-scissors specials!

Amble your way back 200 million years when Turners Falls was nothing more than a huge muddy lake sitting on a cooled bed of lava! And then, there’s the story of the famous Armored Mudballs – claimed to be found nowhere else in the world but Turners Falls. Steve’s geo-tour of the village should take about 90 minutes.

Rock Paper Scissors competition according to International Regulations.
$200 Cash Prize for the Winner and $50 for the Runner-up!
Participants must be age 8+.
$5 donation per person covers the prize money.
Dressing in costume is HIGHLY recommended. Prize for best TEAM COSTUME!
Participation is limited to 64. Please check in your team by 2:30 pm at the festival.

As we prepared for our gig at Eastworks, a visiting jazz fan and photographer from Connecticut observed us and took photographs. Days later, after developing his film, Dan Castelli sent this delightful black and white photo. He titled it, “Music should be fun.”  Yes!  Thank you, Dan!

Life in the 413 New Century Theater Benefit

New Century Theatre presents the third annual LIFE IN THE 413 production. An evening of live radio plays and music to benefit our 27th anniversary season. We are playing.

Parade kicks off at noon marching from Main Street, Northampton to the Tri County Fairgrounds where the Pride event stage starts at 1:30

Plus lots of vendors and a Youth craft area!

River Roll and Stroll

Join us for the River Roll and Stroll.

Veterans Memorial Bridge
South Hadley & Holyoke

The Veterans Memorial Bridge will be shut down to traffic May 7 and open for residents of both communities to mingle on foot during the River Roll & Stroll. Musicians and artists, as well as community groups, will line the bridge with stations for residents to interact with. Food trucks and tables will be parked at each end of the bridge, adding to the festival. Artists will encourage chalk drawings, there will be a bike decorating station and old fashioned kids activities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Marching bands will lead a kick-off parade.

May 14th from 12:30-2:30 we will be rehearsing at Maines Field in Florence, MA. Rehearsals are open to the public and potential band members. We will try to use the gazebo if it is raining.
